I hope you’re well and warm wherever you’re reading this from. I’m starting to see more and more signs of a new season on the horizon. At the market I’m seeing more carrots, radishes, and light springy greens. We’re almost there, folks!
A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to take an extra day off from work to spend a few nights a couple hours north of the city. As much as I love having everything close by in Brooklyn, it’s always refreshing to change up my routine for a bit and see some greenery. Staying in nature and having access to a car for a few days always makes me reflect on life before moving to a big city.
I grew up in the south where having a car is not only vital to getting yourself around but is important to becoming a contributing member of the family. As soon as I had my license and a car at age sixteen I could drive myself to work and school while also helping with groceries or other errands that my parents might have for me.
